House of Memory Museum Tour
If you're looking for a tour completely out of the ordinary and are interested in the history of armed conflict in Colombia. Look no further than our visit to the Museo Casa de la Memoria (Memory Museum House). This tour is exclusive not because it's not available to everyone but because most locals no not of the existence of this place.
Opened in 2012, the Memory Museum was born within the Victims of Armed Conflict Care Program. The purpose of this project is to "remember" because remembering prevents history repeating itself. However, remembering is difficult when only a handful of locals (mostly the ones living near the Bicentenario Park of Medellin) know of the existence of this place.
Conflict victims and their families are honored and dignified as their stories are shared. Memories have been collected througout the years along with names, pictures and stories of the violent cycle the city had to endure for many years.
The museum features interactive platforms that allow you to search by keyword, many of the events that have plagued the people for decades. It really helps you get a sense of how through social projects and unfortunately, lots of bloodshed, the city is what it is today. A beacon of hope for other struggling cities.
Take this tour with us and together, we'll learn the history you never imagined possible.
